According
to my opinion, Diigo is really useful for all teachers. It allows you to strach
out the web-sites and save them. Even if web-site will be not available, Diigo
saves it and we can access that web-site. Pinterest is not that usefull for
educational purposes. Evernote is a perfect program even normal users. The
disadvantage is there are lots of web-sites and applications like Evernote. APP’s
builder is a perfect tool for everyone because without nowing any code or
something, you can create really usefull apps.

Web 2.0 Reflection
In this
lesson, we looked academia.com and we found it very useful. After class, I
looked to researchgate.net and find it usefull as well. Beign a part of this
kind of sites is really important for my personal development because I can be
in touch with my friends and colleagues. This is really important because if I
was a member of these kind of web sites, I can have a chance to read lots of
academic paper and academic work. I couldn’t decide my best yet because I have to
look at some more academic web-sites too.
e-Learning Reflection
We have been using EDMODO in our
CTE 207 class. This site does its job well. I think, our instructor chose this
web site because of the reasons below:
- · It is user friendly
- · It looks like one of the popular social media sites
- · It does everything about education (grading, commending, giving feedback etc.)
We may use MOODLE in order to use
EDMODO because that one is also popular among education area. Even our
university will replace METU Online with MODDLE but I think EDMODO is much
better. MOODLE is just better in one way that we can embed evaluation tasks in
it. For example, we can prepare exams in MOODLE and we can embed our Hot Potatoes
files.
Reflection about "boards"
In
my high school, we used "smart class" in order to communicate with
schools which are located in other cities. In that classroom, we had smart
board but we did not use it. There was a presenter and he gave a speech about
"the future of technology" at that year. Apart from that, all our
boards were "white board". My teacher used "black boards"
just when I was at elementary school.
In
addition to that, in the university, most of instructors use white board but in
the CTE 207 class, we used smart board for our presentation.

Video Reflection
According to my thought, videos as a
visual are really important in educational life. Like me, most of students can
learn easily by visuals. In EDUS 220 and GPC 320 classes, my instructors use
videos very effectively as a lesson material. There are some issues that we can
learn and understand better through videos. Of course, showing "well
prepared" videos are really important because as we can learn better by
videos, we can also learn and understand our subjects wrong through them. As a
teacher, (I thought that my subject is "blogging") my students can
create some animations which can show how we create blog visually. This
activity can be very useful because during the process, my students can learn
each step of preparing blog.

Reflection About Digital Literacies
This subject is really hard for me because
in my high school, almost all classes based on traditional learning. In our
normal classes like math, biology etc. there were no computer in the classroom.
In addition to that, our teachers did not use any visuals in the class.
However, our programming teacher used to use some visual presentations which
are not really good according to what we have learned this week. We couldn't
even read the codes from our seats. Because of that, we cannot
"decode" this presentations (this presentations sometimes depend on
just images) . According to these experiences, I can say that just one of my
teachers used to use visual literacy in my high school and unfortunately, he
was not able to "encode" visuals.

Internet usage of university students in Turkey in a day
34 of my friends are involved my small research and the result shows that 15 of them are internet addicted. 12 of them are at borderline. We can see the huge gap between addicted ones with who are not.

Reflection
This
week, I will try to mention my high school experiences about literacies that we
have learned last week. I graduated technical high school so my technical
knowledge was enough for demands of academia. I basically had good background
knowledge about computer literacy, visual literacy, media literacy and general
literacy. My undergraduate program is computer education and instructional
technology so those literacies were enough for my department for the first
time. However, I have to improve my other literacies to cope with other needs
of university life. For example, I had no idea what cyberlearning literacy is.
Last year, we start to use EDMODO and I start to understand cyberlearning. In
that way, my cyberlearning skill is improving day by day.
I think
my strongest literacy is computer literacy. I can do lots of think with it such
as coding, visual designing etc. My weakest one is text literacy. Every student
has stronger and weaker one. In the mean of that, I think teachers should use
combination of all of the literacies.
When we
become teacher, we should upgrade our literacies frequently specially computer
literacy because it is changing almost every day.
Literacies that we use in GPC 320
In GPC 320 course, we use visual and video literacy. In this course, each class we have a powerpoint presentation and some videos in order to understand our content well. After this content, our instructor asks some questions about the video and presentation so as to see if we understand that video and presentation correctly. In that course we have never used other literacies.
